Our aims

The aim of our Pre-school is to provide a secure, structured and stimulating environment in which to provide children with the opportunity to meet other adults and similar aged children to develop their abilities and interests fully in line with current legislation.  We aim to build on the excellent reputation we have attained over the past forty years and to maintain our unique ‘pre-school’ ethos within the St Leonard’s area.

We are run by a committee of parents and are members of the Preschool Learning Alliance (PLA). We are inspected by OFSTED.

Our history

St. Leonard’s Preschool has been running for over 50 years,  from various locations around the St Leonards area.  It is a nurturing and yet dynamic early childhood education centre dedicated to fostering the growth and development of young minds.

We pride ourselves on being a community driven, community run charitable organisation (CIO).  We are run by the community for the community of St Leonards and we would LOVE your family to join us!

Our post covid years have seriously depleted our financial reserves, and our current location has meant we are not as conveniently located close to the school BUT we are still as passionate about what we can offer to the community at a time when it is most needed.  We pride ourselves on offering more than childcare, we offer family support and the opportunity to make lifelong friends with other local families.  As a not for profit charity, we are able to keep our prices low and very competitive, we can offer greater flexibility over the hours your child attends.   As well as accepting funded children ( you can split your funded hours between childcare providers) , we are also able to offer places to children whose families need to “ top up” their funded hours and charge a very competitive £5 fee for each hour used.  This is often a preferred option for families who use a traditional nursery, but who wish their child to meet friends who they will go on to St Leonards Primary School with.
